If you want to receive the data in spreadsheet format, please read the terms and conditions below, and fill out the form in detail.

We really do need to know who you are, what organization you work for, and how you'll use the data. It's part of our agreement with the entities who are allowing us to distribute the data, and helps us better understand our audience and how the data will be used.

I'll personally review your request and will either send you the spreadsheet, or contact you for clarification. We'll get back to you within 24 hours, typically much sooner.

Terms & Conditions

Here at the Greater New Orleans Community Data Center, we’ve searched long and wide for the most reliable, accurate, useful statistics to describe our community. Our mission is to democratize this information, so it can be used for planning, decision-making and advocacy by a broad audience, including neighborhood associations, local and national foundations, nonprofit and faith-based organizations, schools, advocacy groups and elected officials in local, state and federal government.

We display this information for the public free of charge in our mapping system.

If you want to download the data, we also make it available free of charge to registered users. In return, we ask that you use good information practices when creating derivative information products, whether for internal or public use.

In the spirit of improving the transparency and quality of data used for decision-making, here are the required terms and conditions for using this data:

1. Only qualified nonprofits and governmental entities (and, now media) are eligible to download and use this spreadsheet. (Others may purchase the raw data from its source at www.valassislists.com.)
2. Users are not authorized to distribute this database, or any part thereof, to anyone, even colleagues within your organization; instead send them to this link www.gnocdc.org/repopulation/index.html so they can register and download it themselves. Every user (someone who handles the actual spreadsheet, or mapping database file) of this data must be separately registered with Greater New Orleans Community Data Center at gnocdc.org.
3. Derivative works must add value, by aggregating, summarizing or mapping the data, or combining it with other variables as done in analyses, estimates and projections. However, the block-level data may not be published in an online mapping system without our express permission. If you're in doubt about whether your intended use is approved by this agreement, please e-mail us at info@gnocdc.org.
4. All derivative works created with this data (even internal drafts...which often grow legs and take on a life of their own!) must clearly attribute GNOCDC and Valassis (the company from which we purchased the raw data) and include the Valassis logo according to the requirements listed (see "RequiredLogo" worksheet in this Excel document). Required source citation: Greater New Orleans Community Data Center analysis of Valassis Residential and Business Database <http://www.gnocdc.org> MONTH YEAR.
5. If the derivative product combines our data with other variables for statistical modeling (estimates, projections, etc.), you must rigorously document and make publicly available your methodology to the extent that someone else could replicate it exactly.
6. If the derivative product displays our data in combination with other datasets (such as geographic boundaries, mapped assets, or Census data), you must thoroughly cite those sources as well, including the date the data represents and the creator of the data.
7. The terms of this agreement apply to all media formats, including PowerPoint presentations, printed maps, and text documents.
8. Users are not authorized to bypass this agreement by scraping or attempting to reverse-engineer the data in this database.

DISCLAIMER: Every reasonable effort has been made to assure the accuracy of the maps and associated data. The Greater New Orleans Community Data Center and Valassis provide no warranty as to the content or completeness of any of the data provided herein, and shall assume no liability for any errors or omissions in the information regardless of how caused. GNOCDC and Valassis shall assume no liability for any decisions made or actions taken or not taken in reliance upon information furnished herein.
